Pier Luigi a Consultant in Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care, the President of the Society for Simulation in Europe (SESAM), the President of the Italian Society of Medical Simulation (SIMMED) and the leader of the Centro di Simulazione (CeSi) at the Centro Professionale Sociosanitario MedicoTecnico in Lugano, Switzerland. He is a Technical Officer in Emergency Medical Systems for the World Health Organization.

Dr. Luigi has built an impressive career in medical education and healthcare innovation. His academic journey began at the Università del Piemonte Orientale, where he co-founded the Research Centre in Emergency and Disaster Medicine. He later established and served as the Scientific Director of the Simulation Centre in Health Sciences (SIMNOVA) until 2020.

Dr. Luigi is an accomplished academic and speaker, he has delivered lectures at numerous national and international conferences and authored over 60 peer-reviewed research articles. His editorial work includes the first Italian simulation casebook, a monograph on debriefing (in Italian), and another on strategic debriefing (in English).

As the President of the Italian Society of Medical Simulation (SIMMED), Pier Luigi founded the educational and cultural simulation event SIMCUP© and co-founded SIMZINE©, where he serves as Editorial Director.

With broad international experience, Pier Luigi is passionate about leveraging simulation to develop innovative training and research initiatives that enhance healthcare quality, promote patient safety, and drive forward medical education.
